Facing feelings

Page 90

"We may fear that being in touch with our feelings will trigger an overwhelming chain reaction of pain and panic."

Basic Text, p. 30

While we were using, many of us were unable or unwilling to feel many emotions. If we were happy, we used to make us happier. If we were angry or depressed, we used to mask those feelings. In continuing this pattern throughout our active addiction, we became so emotionally confused that we weren't sure what normal emotions were anymore.

After being in recovery for some time, we find that the emotions we had suppressed suddenly begin to surface. We may find that we do not know how to identify our feelings. What we may be feeling as rage may only be frustration. What we perceive as suicidal depression may simply be sadness. These are the times when we need to seek the assistance of our sponsor or other members of NA. Going to a meeting and talking about what is happening in our lives can help us to face our feelings instead of running from them in fear.

Just for Today: I will not run from the uncomfortable emotions I may experience. I will use the support of my friends in recovery to help me face my emotions.

Andrew Rendo Update

I just got off the phone with Jason and here is the update:

-Police responded yesterday with helicopters and ATV's. After a long day of searching they found no leads.

-At 12 AM last night police unleashed the search dogs. Dogs did find strong scent from Andrews car then he took a right down a dirt road. He then took a turn and went back into civilization -Peoria, AZ. Dogs lost scent at this location, dogs got distracted by other animals and scent was not as strong. This did however, put Andrew at the scene an then back into civilization.

-Police got detective on the case last night and he is still trying to access bank records, because of the Holiday he is having a hard time getting the access from the bank. Detective is working very hard, but we will most likely not have this information until tomorrow.

-Detective got access to phone records.
Last three calls made were on Thursday after his car was found.
One call was to random number to a male (who Andrew did not know). The guy he called said it was a male rambling then hung up.

Two international calls were made to Mexico, which could indicate phone was stolen because Andrew has no contacts in Mexico.

Hopefully we will know more tomorrow when detective gets access to bank records.

*Thank you EVERYONE for all your help and support. We are trying to keep spreading the word and keep the media involved. * NON of this would have been possible without EVERYONE'S help. A special thanks to Heather- @dooce and Jon- @blurb for being so amazing and helping us get the word out.

Thank you again and I will write an update as soon as anything changes.

"We love you Andrew and can't wait to get the call that you are
safe and sound. "

So...what's the update? You ask for everyone's help and assistance but then when he's found, Oops! living in California! - you have nothing else to say? No need to thank anyone for their concerns, thoughts and wishes? No apology for trashing the Phoenix police department? Who is paying for all the Search and Rescue costs that you begged Dooce to rally for you family?

Hi Katey,

Don't read Chicken Liver's site. You seem like a very nice, sweet person and there are a lot of mentally unstable people on the internet (i.e. SHELLEY!) who get their rocks off by judging, insulting and intimidating people on the internet.

Just ignore them. Then they fizzle up and go away.
