Facing feelings

Page 90

"We may fear that being in touch with our feelings will trigger an overwhelming chain reaction of pain and panic."

Basic Text, p. 30

While we were using, many of us were unable or unwilling to feel many emotions. If we were happy, we used to make us happier. If we were angry or depressed, we used to mask those feelings. In continuing this pattern throughout our active addiction, we became so emotionally confused that we weren't sure what normal emotions were anymore.

After being in recovery for some time, we find that the emotions we had suppressed suddenly begin to surface. We may find that we do not know how to identify our feelings. What we may be feeling as rage may only be frustration. What we perceive as suicidal depression may simply be sadness. These are the times when we need to seek the assistance of our sponsor or other members of NA. Going to a meeting and talking about what is happening in our lives can help us to face our feelings instead of running from them in fear.

Just for Today: I will not run from the uncomfortable emotions I may experience. I will use the support of my friends in recovery to help me face my emotions.

Fetal Fotos !!!

On Saturday we went to Fetal Fotos because gwamma wanted a picture of the baby at twelve weeks. She has a picture of Kendall and Pax at twelve weeks so she wants one of my baby too :) It was so much fun because we had lots of family members there with us. Grandma and grandpa Jones, Kristi, Jason, Kendall, and my mom and dad. And of course Ryan was there! It was such an amazing experience because we got to watch the baby for almost ten minutes. It was so much fun to see the baby moving around. I have been so nervous because I have been having a lot of stomach pain and it made me very concerned. Now my nerves are a little more at ease. Me and Ryan have watched the movie over and over. We love to watch it before we go to bed because it makes us both so happy. Here is a little snip clip of the video. The baby had his hands up by his head the whole time. He also had his legs crossed the whole time so I'm going to have to do some convincing so he opens his legs in three weeks when we go back to find out what the sex is. I am still saying he for Ryan but everyone is convinced its a girl. I don't really care  I am just so excited its almost time to find out!!!! I hope you enjoy this little sneak peak of our growing baby....

Also here is a still picture. I know its hard to see because its a picture of a picture but if you look hard you can see the arms up by the face, the eyes the cute little chin and the body...
